About Pranav Kikkeri

Born in a family where music is as natural as breathing, Pranav started identifying ragas at the tender age of 2. While sitting on a swing or even playing ball, he used to sing the same tunes as his father, relaying them back to him. Realizing his potential and auditory mind's eye, his father put him under the tutelage of one of the greatest Gurus Carnatic music has ever known Sangeetha Samrat, Sri Chitravina Ravikiran, at the age of 3 to hone the child’s burgeoning instinctive skills and talent. Endowed with a mellifluous voice, knowledge and swara jnanam beyond his age, and with his Guru’s blessings and training, Pranav has deservedly won applause and appreciation from doyens in music such as late Smt D.K.Pattamal, Sri Dr. M.Balamuralikrishna, Sri R.K.Srikantan, Sri Chitravina Narasimhan and Smt Sudha Raghunathan.

At age ten, Pranav gave his first full concert. At the age of five, Pranav discovered a new raga, which has been named “Pranavaswaroopini” by his Guru. Pranav has actively taken part in the Nadopasana programs, various temples’ New Year celebrations, and other performances such as the Sri Oothukkadu and Sri Purandara Dasa Aradhanas. He has also taken part in his Guru's Audio/Visual Aid to Learning Music productions and in the internationally renowned Melharmonic orchestra "NAMO".

He secured the First prize in the krti category at the tender age of 7 and won a Special Prize for the Alapana category at 10 years of age at the renowned Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. He has also earned Special Prize at the renowned Carnatic Music Idol of 2013. In 2014, Pranav had the honor of winning Carnatic Music Idol competition and was bestowed upon the ‘Junior Idol’ title. He had a very successful concert tour in the Summer of 2014 performing for highly prestigious sabhas in Mysore and Bangalore, such as Nadabramha, Ananya , Talavadya Institution and others. Pranav was the youngest contestant to win the second prize in the toughest “Concert Competition” this year at the world renowned Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana 2015. An active sixth grader, Pranav has his name in the honor roll and LEAP program. Additionally, he enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and tennis.
